Barry qualified as an Abrasive Wheels instructor towards the end of 2019 and will be running courses monthly going forward.
Following a career spanning more than thirty years in the construction industry, and with twenty of these being spent as a foreman/supervisor, Barry is a hugely valuable member of the Mackin team as a Health and Safety Consultant and Instructor. Barry is also a qualified trainer in Manual Handling and recently qualified as a Safe Pass instructor in 2019.
What is Abrasive Wheels Training?
Abrasive wheels training is a legal requirement for anyone involved in the purchase and selection, storage and handling, mounting, dressing and use of abrasive wheels – whether they are fixed or portable.
The course covers the following topics:
- Examination and test of abrasive wheels
- Storage
- Handling
- Speeds of spindles
- Mounting
- Guards
- Wheel selection
- Work rests
- Misuse of wheels
- Truing and dressing
- Eye protection
- Training and appointment of people to mount wheels
Will I receive a certificate?
On successful completion of the course each participant will receive a certificate that will be valid for 3 years.
